Hey guys I've had the honor of teaching a couple people about photography this past week. My students get one on one lessons and a ton of Q&A time. With different level students it means different techniques. The one thing I keep stressing is you have to be active in your photography to get the results your looking for. Hit and miss is one way but understanding how your camera works will lead to your photos being better and most importantly the way you expected.
Not all photographers shoot fashion or people. Many of the world's top photographers photograph life, the world, vacation destinations. Just something to keep in mind.
We just finished photographing at the Miss India and Miss Teen India DFW Pageant. It was full of eye popping outfits, great music and some of the best dance moves I've seen since MC Hammer was in his prime. Photos for this event will be on sale at http://gilbertovasquez.instaproofs.com/
thank you for visiting my BLOG and my photo page
My focus on this series is advertising. Making my photos appeal to the high testosterone market of sports. Giving my subjects a heroic feel! You will see more of these photos coming in different sports and different age groups. This 2 shots are a series of 8 photos. You can view the other photos in my website (coming soon!).
I'm often asked about my lightning in this series. This is a 3 light system where the back 2 lights are set in a 45 degree's using only the silver reflectors that come with the mono lights. Main light was a beauty dish with a grid. Settings, Fstops and so on have to be figured out by you. Experiment and have fun. you can always delete if they don't come out the way you want them! lol
Working with one of Asia's best known models was a pleasure as always. Michelle Bea Paloma can be seen in several advertisements such as Pond's, Just G and Neutrogena. Michelle is also been a force in commercials and music videos.
This photograph was shot using only two lights. Sometimes I get people asking me how many lights I use. They are surprise that I only use less then three in all of my photos. Using at using a reflector, a hair light and main is a pretty good way to getting this look.
Give it a shot , practice and have fun with it!
Working with Sophia was great. I had a great time and kept it simple. Using a silver reflector we captured some amazing images. We had to wait until the sun was at the right spot to get that orange/red glow shooting in our lens. Yes, that's the real deal not photoshop!
With the entire world now using DSLR's what sets you apart from the other guy? Is it lighting? Is it your team? Is it your technical knowledge? 2012 Will be a year where I focus on advertising photography.
Here's what sets me apart:
This series was actually done a while back. A sunny day, a beauty dish and a talented team and model. This was not scheduled but was put together last minute while visiting a make up artist friend of mine in Dallas.
Happy New Year everyone! I want to thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. I want to give you guys an insight to how I work and give you updates on my career. So through out the year we will cover lighting, photography, photoshop, how I did it videos. We might even bring up profile videos for models, stylist, agents and other photographers. So stay tuned
